Created from a shared mission to make art more accessible and part of everyday living, we’ve partnered with Artsper, a leading online platform for buying art. Squizzato works with bold flat colours and geometric shapes, blending references from Cubism, Bauhaus, and Pop Art into his own unique style, which he calls Pop-Constructivism. Every Slowdown Studio throw starts as an original artwork. We collaborate with independent artists around the world to translate their creativity into woven form. 
About the Artist

Before painting full time, Squizzato spent 15 years as a creative director in digital advertising. He hit a wall with it when invention for other people's brands stopped feeling like his own, and in 2013 he left to paint instead. A lot of his work since has been about identity getting fragmented by screens and networks, and you can see that here: a face broken into flat coloured blocks and diagonal stripes, like a portrait assembled from separate parts rather than one continuous line.

Jacquard woven from high-quality cotton (at least 25% recycled cotton), the Pierre Throw is jacquard woven in the USA from cotton with at least 25% recycled cotton: lightweight, textured, and built to last. Use it as a couch blanket, a bed blanket, a wall art tapestry, or wherever you need a little colour or personality.

Materials: 100% cotton (25% recycled).

About the Artist

What inspired your artwork for this throw?

As with most of my paintings, I create them almost automatically, using a visual grammar
that is deeply personal to me. I try to dive into a piece very spontaneously, because afterwards I tend to want to control everything too much. Aside from that, my inspirations are highly diverse and varied; I think this shows in my work, and it would take pages here to detail them all.

How does where you live influence your work?

Not really when it comes to the paintings. Especially since I don't paint specific landscapes, aside from brutalist buildings that aren't located in my city. However, I have painted around ten murals in my city, which allowed me to meet people and, in a way, interact with some of the local population. It's something I would like to do more of again in the future.

What's your favorite way to slow down?

My partner would say that I never manage to do it and that I should go get tested for ADHD :) But otherwise, a good walk in the rain around Lac de Servières might do the trick. I also love feeling the sheer power of nature: huge waves, a thunderstorm, a fierce wind. I like feeling that we are nothing. It soothes me.
