The Cooper Throw was designed by Finland-based artist Lotta Maija for Slowdown Studio. Lotta works in saturated colour, turning flowers and fruit into bold, flattened, playful compositions. This design came from a Finnish summer spent biking around the city, photographing flowers in full bloom and storing them up against the darker months ahead. Built from flat, stacked shapes like a collage, each one solid-coloured with a bold outline, it's set against a dusty pink background with pops of mustard yellow, plum, orange, and sage green. Read our interview with Lotta Maija here.

Every Slowdown Studio throw starts as an original artwork. We collaborate with independent artists around the world to translate their creativity into woven form. 
About the Artist

Lotta Maija is a Finnish textile designer and illustrator, recognised for her vivid use of colour, organic floral and fruit motifs and bold compositions. Her work combines playfulness with a sweet, yet striking aesthetic.

Her creative process often begins with hand-drawn sketches using felt tip markers or high pigmented gouache paints. She fills her notebooks with explorations of abstract floral studies and playful compositional experiments, which later turn into prints and surface patterns. Lotta is interested in translating her design into different mediums, from printed and woven textiles to printed paper products and wood sculptures.

With a background in textile design and printmaking, Lotta has developed a deep love for flat colour surfaces, a feature often present in her work. Living in Tokyo, for both an internship and exchange studies, allowed her to immerse herself with the Japanese culture and design influences that are now woven into her creative process and personal style.
Product Details

Jacquard woven from high-quality cotton (at least 25% recycled cotton), the Cooper Throw is lightweight, textured, and built to last. Use it as a couch blanket, a bed blanket, a wall art tapestry, or wherever you need a little colour or personality.

Materials: 100% cotton (25% recycled).

Size: 54" x 70" (137cm x 178cm).
Care Instructions

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Dry on a cool cycle or line dry.

Due to the nature & structure of the Jacquard weave, occasionally a thread can snag. If this happens, don’t pull it. Use a blunt needle or crochet hook to gently ease it back through to the underside.

Returns

Email us at orders@slowdownstudio.com to initiate a return. Returns must be made within 30 days of purchase, at your own shipping expense (unless the product is faulty). Returns must be in their original, packaged condition and arrive back to us undamaged. Change of mind returns are not applicable for framed products as they are made to order.

Customs & Duties

Orders being shipped outside of the US, UK, Australia & the EU may be subject to customs, taxes or any additional charges by your local government, which will be payable by yourself. This would be applicable for Norway and Switzerland. Should orders be returned due to these payments not being made, the you will be responsible for the return shipping fees.
