Here at Slowdown Studio, we love collaborating with emerging and established artists from around the world. We recently had the pleasure of chatting with Nantes-based French illustrator Thomas Gaudinet, the creative mind behind both the Barbosa and newly launched Guarena throw. Thomas is known for his expressive linework, playful compositions, and a unique ability to blend softness with boldness - his work feels like a pastel daydream with a punk soundtrack. We spoke to Thomas about the joy of watching his dog nap, his love of dark music and bright colors, and what it means to be patient with your creative process.
The artist I'm thinking of directly isn't an emerging artist, but he's made a strong impression on me. He's an illustrator from my region called Jean Jullien. I love the way he draws and the wonderful ideas that come out of his mind. Some of his works are installed in my town and I love seeing them.

I especially like walking in the city parks. I feel good with lots of space around me.
My most important advice would be to be patient and persistent, and not to be afraid of making mistakes. It takes time for good creations to emerge. You have to make mistakes, know how to go back, find another way. All this takes time, patience and a little stubbornness.
A Throw With a Point of View
At Slowdown Studio, we don’t just make blankets—we collaborate with artists to weave art you can snuggle into. Each woven blanket is a canvas, crafted with 25% recycled cotton and 100% intention. Designed by emerging artists around the globe, our throws and blanket collection turns everyday lounging into a mini gallery experience. Think of it as functional art: bold, textural, and always a conversation starter.
Why settle for ordinary when you can wrap yourself in meaning? These are blankets woven with personality - where a brushstroke becomes a stripe, or a scribble becomes the centerpiece of your living room. Every piece is designed globally and brought to life on looms in the USA, using sustainably-sourced yarn that’s soft on your skin and the planet. Here at Slowdown Studio, we call it cozy with a conscience.
Whether draped over your sofa, layered at the end of your bed, or hanging proudly as wall art, a Slowdown Studio throw is more than just warmth - its art. It’s a nod to artistry, individuality, and the slow beauty of intentional living. And because we champion emerging creatives, each design you bring home helps support the next wave of artists daring to color outside the lines.
So if you're craving something more than mass-produced mediocrity if you want a woven blanket that feels like you - you’re in the right place. Welcome to the softer side of statement pieces with Slowdown Studio.
