This is a special one for us at Slowdown. Our desire to work with and spotlight artists is central to our identity, but working with the Tangentyere Artists Aboriginal Art Centre, an Alice Springs-based not-for-profit Aboriginal-owned Art Centre that represents the breadth and depth of Central Australian cultural diversity, is a dream come true. Working with Sydney-based retailer Koskela, our focus was to develop a collection that allows each artist's work to shine and that benefits the Aboriginal artist communities that strive to keep their art and traditions alive. The three blankets in the limited-edition collection feature the striking artwork of Warlpiri, Pintupi and Luritja artists, Emma Daniels, Linda Syddick and Wentja Morgan. Only 50 blankets of each design were woven. The three artworks in the collection were licensed by Slowdown Studio with Koskela as facilitator and with the assistance of Arts Law Centre licensing agreements. The licensing fee proceeds go directly to the not-for-profit art centre, and artists/artist’s estates.
